Robot In A CanFlight Lab 003
Experiment range

Change one thing // observe the flight

Make the invisible forces visible.

Start low, move slowly, and change one variable at a time. Each short flight is evidence about balance, thrust, orientation, and control.

Flight lab sequence

Earn control one mission at a time.

EXPERIMENT 01 // CONTROLS

Meet the sticks.

With the drone powered off, rehearse altitude, yaw, forward/back, and side-to-side inputs. Predict the aircraft’s movement before using power.

RESULT // a control map
EXPERIMENT 02 // HOVER

Find neutral.

Lift to knee height, hold for three seconds, and land. Repeat while making smaller corrections. Notice which direction the drone wants to drift.

RESULT // a steady hover
EXPERIMENT 03 // TRIM

Measure the drift.

Place a marker at takeoff and another where the drone moves without a command. Adjust one trim direction, repeat, and compare the distance.

RESULT // evidence-based trim
EXPERIMENT 04 // ORIENTATION

Turn the pilot.

Fly away, rotate 90 degrees, and return. Repeat with the drone facing you to discover why the same stick movement can look reversed.

RESULT // spatial awareness
EXPERIMENT 05 // PATTERNS

Draw in the air.

Use floor markers to fly a straight line, square, triangle, and figure eight. Trade speed for accuracy and record which pattern is hardest.

RESULT // repeatable flight
EXPERIMENT 06 // BALANCE

Move the mass.

With power disconnected, shift the battery a small measured distance and check the center of gravity. Predict the drift before returning it to the safe balanced position.

RESULT // cause and effect
LAB RULE // ONE VARIABLE

Predict. Fly. Observe. Explain.

Keep the flight area, battery charge, takeoff point, and mission the same. Change only one thing, record what happened, then decide whether the evidence supports your prediction.

Turn a flight test into a project.

Keep the useful mechanism and change the goal, structure, or story.

  • Build a landing challenge
  • Create a precision flight course
  • Design a protective cage
  • Make a new lightweight frame
